QUARTZ BANGERS

The crown jewel of your dabbing setup will always be your dab banger— so why settle for something less than perfect?

Why is quartz used for bangers?

Quartz bangers are the most popular dab nails out there, and for good reason. Between their affordability and durability, they’re easy on the wallet. But they’re also very easy on the eyes and are chock full of benefits that promote better hits and flavors. All in all, they’re a worthy investment, and one of the most important working parts of your whole setup.

Quartz banger vs glass banger

While quartz looks a lot like glass, it’s a durable crystalline mineral that stands up to heat. Nothing sees as much daily use as your nail, so it’s important that it can handle the heat. You don’t have to worry about a quartz dab nail breaking or wearing down from excessive heating and cooling— it’s built for that! It’s a huge reason why they last longer than glass, ceramic, and titanium nails.

More importantly, even though a quartz banger can handle red hot temperatures, it can also be used very effectively at lower temperatures. They retain heat well and cool down slowly, so they’re ideal for the perfect low-temperature dab. They’re also so much easier to clean than ceramic and titanium since they’re heated more evenly and hit at lower temperatures that make mopping up messes much less of a headache.

But the most exciting thing about a quartz nail is that it tastes so much better than nails made from other materials. Unlike ceramic or titanium where you taste the nail itself in your dabs, our quartz bangers are made from pure silica sands which don’t release any other chemicals when heated. With quartz bangers you only taste your concentrates and never the nail itself. Upgrade to a quartz banger and say goodbye to metallic-flavored dabs forever!

Using a quartz banger nail is so easy. They’re compatible with carb caps and e-nails, but they can also be heated easily with a torch to the desired temperature. Once the banger is warm, you can drop your concentrate in, cap it with a carb cap, and inhale from your rig. It’s as easy as one-two-three. For maintenance, simply wipe it with a cotton swab after each dab and use isopropyl alcohol for stickier messes and leftover residue.

Types of quartz bangers

Quartz nails come in many different styles and sizes. Lucky for you, we’re on point with the latest trends, so we’ve got everything you need when it comes to dab rig bangers. Here’s a quick rundown of the different styles and sizes:

Opaque Bottom Bangers: An opaque rig banger has a porous white bottom that reduces heat up times and holds onto heat for longer than regular quartz bangers. They look pretty cool on a rig since they contrast with the clear quartz, but have the added benefit of being compatible with terp pearls and inserts.

Round Bottom Bangers: Round bottoms are popular bangers for rigs since they’re smooth and round, which makes them less wasteful and easier to heat more evenly at the end of the day. Traditional bangers have crevasse and edges that are susceptible to holding onto messes and are trickier to heat up because of their shape. These bangers are also compatible with terp pearls.

Flat Top Bangers: Flat tops make a great banger for dabs since they’re flush on the top, which allows you to set your carb cap on top without worrying about it taking a tumble to the ground. The design also makes for a tighter seal between the nail and the carb cap, improving air pressure and encouraging better hits. These are also great with inserts and terp pearls, as well as most carb caps.

Seamless Bangers: Seamless nails are improved flat top bangers that also have a seamless intersection between the bucket and the neck. They’re more durable than bangers that have a seam in that area and are less prone to fractures. They can also be used with most accessories.

Terp Slurp Bangers: Slurp bangers are the latest and greatest and are used much differently than traditional bangers. They require the use of a valve, a terp pearl, and a carb cap to ensure the entire concentrate is vaporized with the least amount of mess. The concentrate is applied to the dish at the bottom. The nail has little holes at the bottom that sucks the concentrate in the chamber where it gets vaporized. They’re also compatible with most carb caps and terp pearls.

What size should I buy?

The banger for your dab rig should fit onto your rig comfortably. To ensure you’re getting the right size and style, you’ll want to figure out if you need a male or a female nail and then measure the size of your dab rig.

Male vs. Female bangers: Your banger and your dab rig should be opposites. If you have a male joint on your rig (one that sticks out), you’ll want a female banger because it’ll slide over the top of the male joint on your rig. If your rig is female, choose a male banger that will slide into the female opening.

Banger Sizes: After you figure out the sex of your rig, you’ll need to measure the opening. The opening on your rig and the opening on your banger should be the same size. Most rigs measure in at 10mm, 14mm, and 19mm, though yours could be larger. Use a ruler to find the correct size, and choose a banger that matches the size, but uses the opposite gender.

Angled Bangers: If the joint on your rig is slanted at an angle, opt for a 45° banger so that you can still dab on a flat surface. On the other hand, if the joint on your rig is straight (vertical), choose a 90° banger. To make sure you’re dabbing on a flat surface, you’ll always want your banger and the rig to measure up to 90°. That’s why rigs with 45° angled joints need a 45° banger— 45+45=90!

How long do I heat my quartz banger?

If you’re using the eyeball method, a good rule of thumb is to heat your quartz nail for about a minute using a torch. Take care to spend about 20 seconds on each side and then an additional 20 seconds on the top. If you get your banger red hot, you’ll want to allow it to cool for about 40-50 seconds before you take your dab to prevent burning your concentrate.

If the eyeball method is too inconsistent for you, you can use a laser thermometer or terpometer to help you find the perfect temperature to hit your dab. You’ll want to aim for temperatures between 500 and 650°F for the perfect low-temp hit. If all else fails, go for an e-nail for precise temperature control.
